« I’d be happy with such a problem Quote of the week »
In my "day job," I'm the features and sports editor for a weekly New Jersey newspaper. I'm also the editor of the Bibliography Committee Newsletter for the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR).
I did a piece on the award-winning cartoonist and he was nice enough to "immortalize" me.
What I'm reading now:
Heidegger and a Hippo Walk Through Those Pearly Gates: Using Philosophy (and Jokes!) to Explore Life, Death, the Afterlife, and Everything in Between, by Catchcart and Klein
What I just read:
Paul McCarthey: A Life:, by Peter Ames Carlin
Grade: B. Pleasant enough; no sensational material. McCartney could be a right bastard at times, but aren't we all?
What's next:
L'Époque Glorieuse des Expos, by Alain Usereau

I owe Mr. Henrich a serious debt of gratitutde. He was good friends with my dad who passed away on 9/27/08. My dad and several others including Tommy Henrich put together a baseball league for St. HUghs and St. Elizebath Catholic Church’s out on Long Island in 1962. Tommy Herich gave me batting instructions back then. Thank you and God Bless you Mr. Henrich!
I first saw him play in an exhibition game in 1947 against the Dodgers. I did not grasp the signifance of that game, but my father apparently did. It was Jackie Robinson’s first game as a Dodger at Yankee Stadium.
As a kid, I wore my hat slightly tilted just like he did. I grew up in Manhattan, primarily a Giant neighborhood. I’ll never forget his home run against Don Newcombe in the 1949 Series with the Dodgers.
Years later, I used to watch a TV program Mr. Henrich hosted.
Please extend him my wishes for a very happy and healthy birthday.
